Greetings Atlantis and welcome to our NEW LOOK #100 bumper issue of your most
trusted, award winning, informative, talked about and celebrated paper in the whole
land of Fel Dranghyr 'The Atlantis Star'. In this issue we will be talking about Atlantis
and 'The Star' in 3 perspectives, PAST, PRESENT and the FUTURE.
It seems like such a long time ago now when we printed our 50th issue and even longer since our 1st issue but over the last 100 days (sort of) we have strived to keep you informed of everything Atlantis related and in the process tried to remain sane throughout it all. We hope you'll agree when we say we believe we have succeeded in this endeavour and rest assured that there will be many more issue's of the paper to come, leading us all into the future of Atlantis and all that reside within her. So enough of the waffle and on with the show.
***********************PAST*********************
---------------------------------------------------------------
Here we take a look back at our past issues to give you some idea of how it all began and some of the trials and tribulations our Guild has been a part off since its founding. The past can be a great place to gather some perspective on where we went wrong and where we went right, as everyone knows hindsight is a wonderful thing. Please enjoy.
*********** ALL OUR YESTERDAYS, A REVIEW OF THE LAST 100 ISSUES ***********
------------------------------------------------------ By 'Mr B' ---------------------------------------------------------
Way back in October 2012 I was sitting reading a daily newspaper waiting for the time to pass by so that I could carry out some PvP battles, it was then that the idea struck me that Atlantis should have a newspaper.
At first it was only going to be a weekly edition, but then I thought 'To hell with it lets make it a daily'. So on 3rd. October 2012 'The Atlantis Star' was born and it's first edition issued to all guild members. Since then myself and Lord Zand have diligently written you what we think is a great sucess.
Here on our 100th. issue we will look back at some of the more interesting editions, there are more we could have put in but you can read those for yourselves in the back issue thread.
Issue 1. We started with Lord Zand getting the wrong side of the law, after a heavy night in the 'Pig and Firkin' whilst walking home he relieved himself over the prize roses growing in Rhiannon's (No longer with us) garden. Unfortunately for Zander he was seen by a witness, he was arrested and put before the court and find £100 gold coins (A lot of money in those times for Lord Zand believe it or not) and he was made to pick up all the dog crap in the guild for a week.
Issue 2. saw the arrival of some still familiar faces into the guild, here arrived Sdragonfun, Caphalor, Thebho and PFCJay.
Issue 7. and the fame of 'The Star' had spread and it saw it's first printing on the FoE forum. It went down a storm and players were screaming for more, we soon had 1,000 hits on the forum, it was read on the forum up untill issue 77 when we withdrew it so we could use it's novelty to attract players into the guild. We still have comments asking for it to be re-instated.... Perhaps we may one day.
Issue 17. saw 'The Star' win an award of 300 diamonds for most inovative guild activity, we were chuffed and couldn't decide what to spend the diamonds on, we had a poll to see if we should buy a special guild crest but decided we liked the original one.
Issue 19. saw another guild first with the announcement of 'The Atlantis Football League, it started off well but so many players started to leave or be kicked out that it became impossible to run, it is still suspended pending review.
Issue 23. was the start of a dark period for the guild with 'Polish Gate' rearing it's ugly head. A guild-wide argument about P/Ming and preferences. It resulted in the leaving of one Donalddo of the naked asses, so some good did come of it, he was a very disruptive influence on the guild.
Issue 27. and we welcomed (Well maybe not welcomed by all eh Zander) Tarquin Buttockclencher into 'The Star' as an agony Uncle/Aunt/It. we couldn't decide which gender He/She/It was. But were we in for a shock later, Tarquin wasn't so bad after all and even Zander had to admit it.
Issue 30. saw a scandal that rocked the guild, Ophion came out of the closet and admitted he fancied sheep (Sounds familiar lately eh Akkers).
Issue 34. Another scandal rocked Atlantis when Burnside was found tied up with 30 naked birds. It wasn't as racy as it sounded (Unfortunately) as he was found tied up in his messenger pigeon loft with all 30 of his pigeons denude of feathers. Tarquin was responsible, he took the feathers to make cushions for the office. Or so we thought.
Issue 38. saw an attack of Zombies on Atlantis, it was found that DarkDDt was responsible, for the first time in Atlantean history ANGER (Atlantis National Guard Elite Regiment) were deployed, they rid the guild of the nasty putrid creatures.
Issue 39. 11th. November 2012 rememberance day and 'The Star' paid it's own tribute to the fallen.
Issue 43. In this issue EXIT started to show it's teeth with several players thrown out for failing to meet guild rules and obligations, this was the beginning of the end for some players who thought they could just sit back and let others do the work.
Issue 44. Lord Zand declared that he had now amassed 1.5 million gold and goods... Mere pocket change now eh Zander..
Issue 47. In this issue Tarquin was banished from Atlantis, He/She/It was arrested and held in captivity but escaped.. was He/She/It assisted in some way?.
Issue 50. 22nd. November 2012. An important day for Atlantis, not just the Stars 50th edition but the arrival of King Everard V1 and who was with him... yes Tarquin. He was made head of operations within the Star, Burnside and Lord Zand contemplated suicide but got so drunk in the 'Pig and Firkin' that they fell asleep under the trees clutching the ropes they had taken to hang themselves with.
One good thing came out of this day for the Star, it was given Royal Appointment.
Issue 55. saw the start of something big and nearly disasterous for Atlantis, a cloning machine was discovered in John Galts city... this was the beginning of a major upheaval.
Issue 56. saw the introduction of Great Buildings to FoE. If nothing else it brought all the idle players out from under their stones as they all started P/Ming for blue prints.
Issue 58. Atlantis discovered the Dictionary of long lost words, it's existence is still within the guild forum and is being added to as new lost words are found.
Issue 60. Oh my, Atlantis is rocked by the arrest of TonyEvl for threats to kill John Galt and other leaders, UNIPORN is found in his libraries and other places within his city. The beginning of the UNIPORN GATE affair.
Issue 61. Following the arrest of TonyEvl John Galt is also arrested for his part in he UNIPORN saga. 10 clones of John Galt are found upon search of his city, a major investigation is carried out by the top investigators available to Atlantis. Tarquin comes up with a few ideas.
Issue 65. sees John Glt and TonyEvl charged with several offences in relation to Uniporn and the downfall of Atlantis.
Issue 66. King Everard V1 attends Atlantis to sit as Judge in the Uniporn Gate affair.
Both TonyEvl and John Galt plead guilty and just as King Everard is about to pass the death sentence a stranger stops proceedings and the King adjourns the trial.
Issue 67. Tarquin appears on the steps of the Atlantis Town Hall and reveals that he is the Kings senior advisor and has investigated the Uniporn Gate affair. He divulges that the evil Donalddo and the Naked Warriors are to blame for trying to bring down Atlantis. John Galt and TonyEvl are pardoned.
Issue 73. The Star reveals that guild founder John Galt has left us, probably for good.
Issue 78. Is this the end of the world?. The Mayan calender declares that the world will end today. We were still here for issue 79.
Issue 82. Tarquin makes a surprise visit to Atlantis and brings the Star another agony uncle on the behest of the King, Atlantis welcomes Rupert Clutterbuck. Lord Zand and Burnside are worried in case they have a repeat of Tarquin, their fears are unfounded.
Issue 89. Snow starts to fall in parts of Atlantis causing chaos, a Naked Warriors trader Oliphant slips and blocks the main bridge over the river Fel. He is fined by Atlantis 25,000 gold coins and has to forfeit his Oliphant. High school kids take glee in chasing him and his barrister out of Atlantis caning their backsides as they go.
Issue 91. A City in Atlantis suffers from the cold snap and finds it's sewers frozen up, a philantropic Atlantean comes up with a solution but it proves to be a smelly one.
Issue 93. Atlantis starts it's Forge Point Donation club in an attempt to get great buildings built faster.
So there we have it readers, a potted history of just some of the happenings reported by The Atlantis Star over the past 100 issues. We are proud to present this 100th. issue to you and hope that we will still be producing the Star on it's next BIG milestone of it's first Birthday on October 3rd 2013.
